In the new song "Anger is Free" the lyrics speak of the desire to end it all, and the struggle to do the complete opposite...DeuxMonkey is the new band from Dan Spitz that launches a sound that represents that struggle, that determination and fight within human flesh to succeed and overcome. Pummeling riffs during the Anthrax reunion cycle, Dan Spitz gained back the love once lost for his instrument. "Back in the early part of creating the sound of Anthrax I created riffs for me, and me only, it just so happened many of my fans seemed to fall in love with the same aggression and originality my right hand produced. It is the same with DeuxMonkey" Spitz says about the creation process in the studio for the new DeuxMonkey songs. Gathering some of the best metal musicians available to infuse technical and creative expertise unforseen he found his friend, Peter Baltes, a multi-platinum recording artist from the infamous metal band Accept on bass. Accept was a band looked so highly upon during Dan's early days writing riffs for such albums as "Among the Living" he feels honored to have an animalistic bassist onboard the project. Hailing from a nightmare near you on drums is Matt Thompson. A veteran who has had the honor to pound skins for King Diamond for years and years. On vocals the search was on for a special young voice that was both unkown and could weave in and out of 7 string guitars, industrial based drum beats that translate into real drumming, and then suddenly stop motion only to fuse in some Hip Hop if need be. Heavy, Crush, Destroy and then sing would be his target to find. Enter A.O.H. from the Texas band Shaolin Death Squad. "Reinventing a new me is a killer feeling. I miss my fans and the stage so much it is unmeasurable at this point." says Spitz about starting the ride for a second round. After spending 15 years on buses and planes touring the world... Dan lost his love of playing his guitar. He decided to clear his head by stopping the music and starting the Swiss schooling to become a Master Watchmaker. From the loud crunches of blazing guitar amps to the silence of an extremely complicated and expensive Swiss watch. I guess it worked as he's back now creating for all of us. "DeuxMonkey is the start of many projects I plan to enter into. It's getting my feet wet, it's reconnecting with my fans and friends, whom I miss so much" says Spitz. "We hope you all enjoy the pounding metal, the devastating riffs, the blistering leads and lyrical content that means so very much to all of us." Fortunately for all of us we have one of the creators and inventors of thrash metal back on track. A lead guitarist and songwriter of hits who has sold millions of CDs and collected countless gold and platinum awards whom we almost lost, both to musical burn out as well as his recent near death heart failure. The sounds of DeuxMonkey will surely open the gates and make many fans very happy. For instance, the song O.C.D. (obsessive compulsive dissorder) from DeuxMonkey touches on something that surely inflicts not just Dan Spitz, but most musicians. " I wrote this song because, oh man do I suffer from O.C.D., bad. Giving it a bit of a hilarious chorus back round chants made me crack up so much I almost puked. I hope the fans puke too. Haaa ... haaa .. haa.. " says Spitz about what he calls his new anthem song. Let the metal continue!!! Collapse
