Rudy Sarzo's credentials as a bass player are astonishing. With well over 20 years experience as a professional recording and performing artist, Sarzo achieved worldwide acclaim as the bassist for Ozzy Osbourne's Blizzard Of Oz band from March 1981 to September 1982. After touring the world in support of the Blizzard of Ozz and Diary Of a Madman records and performing on Ozzy's multimillion selling CDs Tribute and Speak of the Devil (CD and DVD), Sarzo departed from Blizzard Of Ozz and rejoined his original Los Angeles based hard rock band Quiet Riot (the band that initially featured legendary guitarist Randy Rhoads prior to Randy and Rudy joining forces with Ozzy). Sarzo performed with Quiet Riot from September 1982 through January 1985 and recorded the multi-platinum album Metal Health, which became the first heavy metal debut to reach #1 on the Billboard charts. Sarzo recorded Quiet Riot’s follow-up record Condition Critical as well which also went platinum and found the band headlining arenas across the globe. With Quiet Riot, Sarzo appeared in numerous chart-topping MTV videos and was voted #1 bassist in Circus Magazine in 1983.
After leaving Quiet Riot, Sarzo joined David Coverdale’s Whitesnake. The band performed relentlessly throughout the world from April ‘87 through September ‘94 in support of the multi-platinum albums 1987 and Slip of the Tongue (which Sarzo performed on). Sarzo also appeared in 6 timeless music videos during his tenure with Whitesnake. Then in May of ’97 Sarzo reunited with his old mates Quiet Riot and over the span of 6 years the band toured once again around the world in support of the Alive and Well and Guilty Pleasure CDs. Shortly after, the band released their farewell DVD in November 2003 entitled Quiet Riot Live in The 21st Century.
In February of 2004, Rudy joined Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force for the U.S. "Attack Tour" and two months later Rudy became a member of the multi-platinum heavy metal group DIO. Rudy Sarzo’s combined recordings have sold over 30 million copies and he continues to tour worldwide, splitting bass duties between DIO and Blue Oyster Cult.
